To create a new Text Analytics Search Object, you need to open a Screen in Design Mode. Once you're in the Screen editing page, locate the Text Analytics Search Object from the Screen Objects list in the [left panel](/v1/docs/design-and-play-mode#left-panel), then drag and drop it onto your Screen or Container. ![contents/assets/images/analytics search creation.gif](https://cdn.document360.io/8d6f1ae8-0cac-4d0d-a208-6245b83df94a/Images/Documentation/creating-a-text-analytics-search-object-image-ezajf6ev.png) The Text Analytics Search, just like every other Object, can be moved, resized, duplicated via copy/paste, and easily aligned with other Objects on the Screen. See [Configure Screen Objects](/v1/docs/configure-screen-objects) for more details. When you create a Text Analytics Search Object, you need to associate it with a Text Cube and an Entity (or all Entities) in its structure (a dimension of the Cube). To do so, select the Object and choose a Text Cube and an Entity (or all Entities) from the dropdown menu in the [Object Properties panel](/v1/docs/design-and-play-mode#object-properties-panel) on the right of the Screen editing page. > [!NOTE] > *If the* [*Multiple Data Models mode*](/v1/docs/screen-properties) *is enabled on the Screen, an additional dropdown menu will allow you to select the Data Model containing the Text Cube to be associated with the Object.* ![contents/assets/images/text.analytics.search.main.options.png](https://cdn.document360.io/8d6f1ae8-0cac-4d0d-a208-6245b83df94a/Images/Documentation/creating-a-text-analytics-search-object-image-bns1j4gh.png) Once associated with a Text Cube and an Entity (or all Entities), the Text Analytics Search Object becomes operational and can be used to search text strings right away. ## Interacting with the Text Analytics Search Object in Design Mode In Design Mode, the Text Analytics Search Object provides the same [interactive features as are available in Play Mode](/v1/docs/interacting-with-a-text-analytics-search-object). > [!NOTE] > *When performing a search, the Text Analytics Search Object ignores any selection applied by other Objects on the Entity (or Entities) it's associated with: every new search will clear the currently active selections on that Entity (or Entities), except the* [*Screen Selection*](/v1/docs/about-the-select)*, and apply a new one based on the search results.* > > *If you apply a selection via the Text Analytics Search Object in Design Mode and save the Screen, that selection will be applied to the Screen by default, in both Design and Play Modes. Resetting the search field returns the Entity (or Entities) associated with the Object to the default state defined by the* [*Screen Selection*](/v1/docs/about-the-select)*.* > > See [Selection application sequence (Select at runtime)](/v1/docs/about-the-select#selection-application-sequence-select-at-runtime) to know more about the order in which Board executes selections on each Screen. > > *To clear the selection on all Objects on the Screen, including the Text Analytics Search Object, open the Screen Select window by clicking the Select icon ( ![contents/assets/images/select.window.png](https://cdn.document360.io/8d6f1ae8-0cac-4d0d-a208-6245b83df94a/Images/Documentation/creating-a-text-analytics-search-object-image-udzpj3bh.png) ) in the* [*Top Menu*](/v14/docs/the-workspace#2-top-menu-toolbar) *and click on the "Clear all" icon in the lower left corner.* A Text Analytics Search Object is a Screen Object that allows users to input a free-text search string and dynamically filter the data displayed by other Objects (charts, tables, selectors, etc.) on the same Screen or in the same Container, by searching within a configured text Cube (a Cube whose contents are text values). A Screen is a workspace within a Capsule that hosts Screen Objects such as Charts, Tables, Buttons, and Selectors, configured through Layouts to display and interact with data from one or more Board Data Models. In Design Mode, a Screen serves as the design canvas where Screen Objects are placed and configured. In Play Mode, it becomes the interactive interface for navigation, filtering, drilling, and data exploration, subject to permissions as granted through the Security Profiles. See also: - [About Design and Play Modes](/v14/docs/design-and-play-mode) - [Capsules in Design Mode](/v14/docs/capsules-in-design-mode) - [Capsules in Play Mode](/v14/docs/capsules-in-play-mode) A Container in Board is a special Screen Object that can hold and organize other Objects (and even nested Containers) on the same Screen, enabling layouts such as Tab, Panel, Matrix, Book, Tile view, Transition, Expander or Responsive displays. Containers help manage screen space efficiently, enable Object grouping, and support limited navigation (e.g. switching tabs, sliding panels) without over-crowding a Screen. An Object (aka Screen Object) is a visual or interactive component that can be placed on a Screen or within a Capsule that displays data or provides interaction (e.g. Charts, Tables, Selectors, Buttons, Labels), driven by a Layout and configurable with common properties. - A Layout Object is not a "Screen Object" in the same sense. It is the query definition attached to other Screen Objects about which Cubes, Entities, and calculated fields to retrieve and how to aggregate them. - A Dataset Object provides a semantic layer definition for data reuse across functionalities. It is also not a Screen Object, but is used for shared data access purposes in Board Foresight and the Microsoft365 Excel Add-in. So while Layouts and Datasets are called "objects" in a broad sense, they differ from UI Objects because they do not directly appear on Screens (they don’t render visuals themselves) and instead represent data definitions or structured query artifacts within the Board ecosystem. Design Mode is the user mode in which Capsules, Screens, Layouts, Screen Objects, and Presentations (aka Edit Mode) become configurable, enabling content and object placement and configuration of their properties, filters, and navigation facilities. The alternative Play Mode or User Mode disables all structural editing and the interface is limited to interaction, navigation, and data exploration only.
