Upgrade to Board 15 from 14

Prev Next

Since the Board 15 release is fully back-compatible with previous Board 14 versions, the upgrade process won't require any special preparation: every Data Model running in previous Board 12 (2021, 2022, and 2023) environments will work seamlessly after you upgrade your solution.

Steps for upgrading to Board 15 from 14

This applies to upgrades from Board 14.x versions to 15.x.

To upgrade to Board 15, you must also upgrade the IDP.

Best practice: we advise upgrading your Sandbox first, and running the appropriate tests before implementing in Production. Speak with your Customer Success Manager or reach out to Support.

Cloud customers

For Cloud environments, the upgrade process can be initiated by raising a ticket through the Board Support Portal. The ticket must contain your Platform name (e.g. customer1-s1.board.com). The Board Cloud Operations team will then handle your request.

Once the upgrade is confirmed by the Board Cloud Operations team, you'll be ready to actively use your new Board 14 or 15 release environments.

On-premises customers

  1. Uninstall your current version of Board.

  2. Install Board 14.x or 15.x. You can download the necessary installer files from the download page.

After these steps are completed, you are ready to actively use your new Board 14 or 15 environments.

Detailed changes introduced

Board versions 14 and newer do not introduce any critical changes compared to the Board 10.x versions, so no specific action is required to complete the upgrade. The only changes to be aware of are the following:

  • By Column summing different Blocks: in previous versions, the By Column created new columns on the Flex Grid while now it creates rows inside the configuration of rows defined by the user (according to the hierarchy defined in Row Groups). Total sum of multiple Blocks is now not supported. By Column totals across multiple Blocks are not supported when those Blocks share the same By Column configuration and are grouped by 1 or more Entities. If a total sum column is needed with By Column Blocks, it can be recreated by using a new algorithm Block that sums the multiple Blocks together. This change should be considered when upgrading.

Only applicable to version 15.0 and newer
