Board AI Agents

Prev Next

Board 15.1 expands the Board AI Agents available for planning workflows and adds capabilities to the existing finance Agents. This release also improves how users work with Agent results and how Administrators manage access, Agent versions, and usage.

For guidance on how to define the analysis scope, calculation rules, and expected output in a prompt, see Best practices for Board AI Agent prompts.

Key highlights

  • Use the new Supply Chain Agent and Merchandiser Agent for operational planning workflows.

  • Use expanded FP&A Agent and Controller Agent capabilities for causal analysis and intercompany reconciliation.

  • Sort, filter, copy, rearrange, and export interactive Agent tables.

  • Send Agent table content to a Smart Import Object for review and data ingestion.

  • Manage Agent versions without changing the rest of the Agent configuration.

  • Monitor tenant-level API Credit usage in Subscription Hub.

New planning Agents

Supply Chain Agent

The new Supply Chain Agent helps supply chain planners understand planning changes, identify risks and opportunities, and compare corrective actions.

The Agent can rank variances and risk signals by impact, trace changes to their drivers, and compare possible responses. Supported use cases include demand risk and opportunity analysis, meeting insight analysis, and capacity constraint analysis.

For more information, see The Supply Chain Agent.

Merchandiser Agent

The new Merchandiser Agent supports merchandise financial planning workflows. It helps merchandise teams review category performance, stock health, and the trade-offs between possible actions before a buy decision.

Supported use cases include category management, open-to-buy risk and opportunity analysis, and allocation and replenishment analysis.

For more information, see The Merchandiser Agent.

Expanded finance capabilities

FP&A Agent

The FP&A Agent can now support causal analysis. The Agent can break down earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) variances into their main drivers, guide users through a causal chain, and create an executive summary.

The FP&A Agent and Controller Agent can also work together across consolidated financial statements. This supports cross-statement checks, consolidated performance analysis, liquidity scenarios, reconciliation, and close validation.

For more information, see The FP&A Agent.

Controller Agent

The Controller Agent now supports deeper intercompany reconciliation analysis. The Agent can identify the total intercompany gap, rank the largest mismatches, and classify the root cause of each difference.

For eligible differences, the Agent can prepare a two-line reconciliation journal proposal. Users must review the proposal before they use it in the close process.

For more information, see The Controller Agent.

Use and reuse Agent results

Agent answers can include interactive tables. Users can:

  • Sort, filter, reorder, and pin columns.

  • Copy a cell value or a complete table.

  • Export data to Excel or CSV.

  • Send table content to a Smart Import Object.

Sending content to a Smart Import Object does not start data ingestion immediately. Users must review and save the content in the Smart Import Object first.

For more information, see Interact with Board AI Agents.

Manage Agent context and versions

Starting with Board 15.1, Board resolves a Dynamic Selection applied to a Screen and passes the resolved Selection value to the Agent as context. The related Entity must be included in the Quick Layout of the linked Dataset. Otherwise, the Agent ignores the Selection.

Developers can also select and manage Agent versions. Existing Agent configurations remain on their selected version until a Developer upgrades them. Configuration settings, including Suggested Prompts, remain available after the upgrade.

For more information, see Create and configure Board AI Agents.

Access and usage controls

The “GenAI” feature is available for Developer, Power User, User, and Lite licenses in Board 15.1. Developer and Power User licenses have access by default. An Administrator must enable the permission for User and Lite licenses in Subscription Hub.

Board AI Agent usage is measured with API Credits. Administrators can monitor consumption against the tenant’s monthly entitlement in the “AI Platform Activation” area of Subscription Hub. Board AI Agent activity stops when the monthly entitlement is fully consumed. Activity can resume when more credits become available or when the next usage cycle starts.

For more information, see Getting started with Board AI Agents and Monitor AI usage in Subscription Hub.
